art is a universal kind of communication; you don’t have to have the knowledge of languages if you can draw; this is the very beginning, in a sense, of writing.

Capturing the essence of his subjects using a unique style he called multiple image, Bernard strove in search of "intellectual depth rather than the depth of a draftsman."
